Configuration file can't be read issue

At some point I issued git tf pull --rebase --deep and it gave me this error:

git-tf: Repository config file <repo-path>\.git\config invalid Cannot read file <repo-path>\.git\config

Config is in a good state, git clients work well with it, I haven't changed it from previous "git tf pull".

Config file attributes are clear, encoding is UTF8.

What can cause this error?

Problem was in config file encoding.

Proper one is ANSI & EOL = Unix
